Material Body: Akita Cedar (Urethane Coating) Sudaré (Bamboo Mat): Bamboo (Uncoated) Igata (Lattice Frame): Akita Cedar (Urethane Coating) >> Click here for care instructions Size Approx. Φ203mm x H47mm Weight Approx. 157g (Serving Dish Only: Approx. 86g) This Soba Dish is perfect for those who want to casually enjoy the beautiful grain of Akita cedar and the traditional Magewappa craftsmanship, which has a history of about 1300 years, at their everyday dining table. It comes from Odate Kogei-sha, a company that has been making Magewappa for about half a century in Odate City, Akita Prefecture. The first thing that catches your eye is the stunningly beautiful, straight-grained wood. The sides, bent into a perfect circle, are secured with cherry bark. When you place the assembled Igata (lattice frame) and the bamboo Sudaré (mat) on the body, you'll feel like you're at a soba restaurant right at home. Both the Igata and Sudaré are included and fit perfectly into the Magewappa body. The Soba Dish is sized for one serving of zaru soba. Arrange several for your family, and serve chilled soba noodles for a refreshingly cool dining experience that will make you forget the summer heat. It's versatile even when soba isn't on the menu. Serve tempura, and instantly create an elegant, restaurant-like presentation. Remove the Igata and Sudaré, and use it as a salad or fruit platter. Sandwiches, temari sushi, ohagi, and Japanese sweets will also look delicious served on it. Beyond serving food, it can also be used as a small tray to present Japanese sweets and cold tea. Traditionally, Odate Magewappa uses uncoated cedar boards. However, for modern usability, the body and Igata are finished with urethane coating. This eliminates worries about water from soba causing stains, making it versatile for various uses. It's also convenient that it can be washed with detergent after use. The Sudaré is uncoated, so it's recommended to use a paper liner when serving oily foods like tempura. You'll want to show off and use something you love. From entertaining guests to everyday use, it's sure to inspire various ideas. This Soba Dish will transform your everyday dining table into a more exciting space.
