This is a well-grown seedling, so overwintering will be no problem. You will have a full bloom of mimosa every year from now on. The seedling in the photo will be sent as is in its pot via Mercari delivery. -------------------------------------------------- Mimosa is a plant of the genus Acacia in the legume family, native to southeastern Australia. It grows to a height of about 5 to 10 meters, and in March and April, it blooms with small, clustered yellow flowers. Its beautiful silvery leaves can be enjoyed throughout the year. While widely distributed as a garden tree, it is also popular as a cut flower. In Italy, there is a custom on March 8th, Women's Day, for men to give mimosa flowers to women they are close to. About Planting Since mimosa grows very tall, it is more suitable for planting in the ground than in pots or planters. The best time to plant is from April to September. Purchase a commercially available seedling and plant it. Transplanting after planting is difficult, so it is recommended to carefully consider the planting location before deciding. About Cultivation Location Mimosa loves sunlight. If there is not enough sunlight, it will be difficult for the flowers to bloom, so choose a sunny spot when planting. Strong winds can break the branches, so choose a location that is as sheltered from the wind as possible. About Fertilizer Mimosa roots, being part of the legume family, host bacteria that absorb nitrogen. Therefore, fertilizers containing nitrogen are not necessary. Fertilizer is generally needed after flowering. After the flowers have finished blooming, apply Plantia Fertilizer for Flowers, Vegetables, and Fruits, which lasts for 3-4 months. About Pruning and Shaping Mimosa grows vigorously and becomes a tall tree exceeding 5 meters. To maintain its shape, prune back the branches that have grown after flowering and thin out crowded branches. Also, because mimosa branches are thin, they can break in the wind if they grow too long. In this sense, pruning after flowering is very important. Pruning should be completed by July at the latest. Flower buds for the following year begin to form from August onwards. If you prune after the flower buds have formed, it will be difficult for the flowers to bloom the following year. Click here for the manufacturer's site
