Japanese Holly Fern Propagates very well. Highly cold-hardy. While the above-ground parts die back in winter, it has overwintered even in Hokkaido (in areas with low snowfall). The leaf color of this variety changes significantly depending on temperature, sunlight, and humidity. Selecting the right planting location is important for enjoying its beautiful silver leaves. In shady and humid conditions, the leaves grow larger and the silver color develops well. The leaf color also appears to be more distinct during cooler periods. It is not particularly picky about soil type, but fertile soil will result in more vigorous growth and better color. Please use commercially available potting soil. Conversely, in sunny, dry, or poor soil conditions, the leaves tend to be smaller and the leaf color may not develop well. Also, while the plant is small, it may not show its true colors, but a well-established plant in a suitable location will display wonderful leaf colors from budding to leaf fall. *The photos show seedlings taken on May 23, 2026. Please understand that leaves may break during shipping due to their fragility. Larger leaves will be trimmed to make the plant more compact. The soil will be removed from the roots, the roots will be kept moist, and the item will be shipped via Fourth Class Mail. We recycle milk cartons and food containers for packaging. The materials used will vary depending on the size of the plant. Fourth Class Mail is shipped with part of the packaging open, and delivery can take approximately 5 to 7 days. Since Sunday delivery was discontinued around 2022, it has taken up to 8 days if it includes weekends. We cannot guarantee against wilting, breakage, or root rot due to heat during transit. Given the current high temperatures, please consider adding express shipping or refraining from purchasing. If you wish to add express shipping, it will be an additional ￥333 (for express shipping fee up to 250g + sales commission). *If it exceeds 250g, the express shipping fee will be ￥444 up to 1kg. Please comment before purchasing if you require this service. We cannot accommodate requests after purchase. As this is a living plant, it changes daily. Please comment before purchasing. We will upload current photos. Please make your purchase after confirmation. Insects or other plants may be present. We cannot offer compensation for wilting, breakage, heat damage, rot, or mold upon arrival. Please only purchase if you understand and accept this. Click here for the manufacturer's site
