Bizen Osafune has been crafting Japanese swords, revered as sacred artifacts since ancient times. This paper knife is born from the very workshops where these Japanese swords are made. A creation by Mr. Kawashima, it embodies the art of fire and water, aiming for the fusion of nature and humanity. It boasts an exceptionally sharp edge and a blade so strikingly beautiful it will take your breath away. It holds not only a sense of purity and rugged strength, but also warmth and elegance. More than just a practical tool, it is also a guardian sword, imbued with the wish to protect you, its owner, from nearby. Many customers, both domestically and internationally, purchase this item as a way to carve out their own luck. According to the swordsmith, While it can cut paper, it will never sever the precious bonds between people. A perfect gift for celebrations, ceremonies, life events, and as a significant milestone in your life. This product was also previously available at the Bizen Osafune Japanese Sword Museum shop. It is currently not sold in other stores. 〈Story〉 Master Swordsmith Kawashima has dedicated over 30 years to Japanese swords in Bizen Osafune, receiving numerous awards. In today's world, where fewer people invite Japanese swords into their homes as guardian deities, he began crafting paper knives with the idea that a talisman (guardian sword) that serves as a spiritual pillar should be close at hand. In his professional capacity, in early 2025, he was commissioned by Setouchi City to exhibit his Japanese swords and introduce Japanese culture in Paris. Japanese traditional culture is highly regarded in Europe. He wishes to cherish the inheritance of skillful traditional techniques and true quality, leading to this introduction to you all. Please experience the exquisite delicacy of his craftsmanship, the substantial feel of the steel, and its supple usability. 〈Delivery Specifications〉 The swordsmith's name will be engraved on the back of the paper knife's handle, as shown in photos 2 and 4. It will be shipped carefully, enclosed in a paper sheath and a paulownia wood box. The inscription on the box will be at the swordsmith's discretion. The pattern on the paper sheath generally cannot be chosen. Custom orders for handle engraving and box inscriptions are also available upon consultation. The artwork and box inscriptions shown in photos 1 and 3 are samples. 〈Other〉 Our store is an authorized retailer of Master Swordsmith Kawashima's works, based on a direct contract. A documentary film following Master Swordsmith Kawashima's work has been completed and is scheduled for release. From October 11th to 13th, 2025, he participated in an art event MYAF by avex held in Tennoz, featuring a sword exhibition and a talk show. Click here for the manufacturer's site
