To commemorate the Miki-biki Event held in Reiwa 8 and 9 (2026 and 2027), we have carefully crafted this Goshuincho (temple/shrine stamp book). The cover depicts the Land-pulling ceremony, and the back cover features the River-pulling ceremony. Each book is meticulously handmade by skilled artisans. At the Grand Shrine of Ise, the Shikinen Sengu (grand rebuilding ceremony) is held every twenty years. During this ceremony, the shrine buildings, vestments, sacred treasures, and everything else are renewed, and the Great Deity is moved to a new shrine. In preparation for the most important Mioya no Gi (ceremony of moving the deity) in the autumn of Reiwa 15 (2033), related festivals and events began in Reiwa 7 (2025). In Reiwa 8 and 9 (2026 and 2027), the Miki-kare Event, where residents of Ise and worshippers from across the country pull the sacred timber into the precincts of both shrines, will be grandly celebrated. The Inner Shrine (Naiku) will transport the timber via the Isuzu River (depicted on the back cover), while the Outer Shrine (Geku) will use a timber-pulling cart for land transport (depicted on the cover). The Miki-biki Event is the most lively among the various Sengu rituals and events.
