This is the GIRIDO kamidana (Shinto altar) made by Woodpecker. It has been used for about a year and has minor scratches. (The scratches may be shallow and could be cleaned with fine-grit sandpaper.) It is a kamidana with a warm feel and presence that you can feel when you touch it. Material: Kiso Hinoki cypress Size: Height 355 mm Width 306 mm Depth 115 mm Price: 77,000 yen *Excerpt from the GIRIDO product page: Have you ever heard the creaking sound 'gigigi' when the doors of a shrine are opened? This sound signals to the worshipper, bowing their head, that they are facing the deity. The doors are fitted using a special technique called 'girido,' which only highly skilled craftsmen among shrine carpenters, the artisans of shrine architecture, can achieve. 'GIRIDO' is also particular about this special traditional technique and the 'sound.' We hope you will open the doors and experience the essence of a shrine carpenter's craftsmanship. *The doors only open on the tabletop model. Click here for the manufacturer's site
