Dan Karner was a French designer and craftsman celebrated for his Mid-Century Modern hand-carved wooden creations, including bowls, platters, and sculptures. Initially based in Paris, he later founded Dan Karner Creaciones in Barcelona, Spain. His bowls are characterized by organic, free-form shapes that often evoke images of natural forms like leaves or shells. Typically carved from woods such as walnut and olive, they showcase the wood's natural grain and imperfections as part of their charm. One notable design features a larger deep dish section alongside a smaller recess, making it ideal for serving snacks or serving as a decorative centerpiece. Karner frequently utilized burlwood in his work, known for its distinctive grain patterns, contributing to his artistic style. His pieces, including sculptures and bowls, often highlight this unique material, as seen in auction listings for Mid 20th Century items. The piece is in excellent vintage condition any imperfections in the wood, is consist with how the designer had constructed the bowl.
