Brown’s Pottery Beautiful handmade ceramic pie dish with stunning turquoise and cream mottled glaze. The ceramic piece features a scalloped edge and artisanal finish. Perfect for serving or as decorative kitchen art. Turquoise and cream colors add a fresh, coastal touch to your tabletop. In excellent condition! Brown's Pottery in Arden, NC, is a historic, family-operated producer of Southern folk pottery and iconic ugly face jugs, founded in 1924 by Davis Brown. Located at 2398 Hendersonville Rd, it is considered the oldest continuous pottery producer in the area, specializing in traditional, rustic stoneware often featuring dark brown design. Key Details About Brown's Pottery: History & Tradition: Founded by Georgia natives Davis P. and Evan Javan Brown in 1924, the pottery has continued through multiple generations. Specialties: Famous for Ugly Face Jugs, functional kitchenwares, bean pots, and bird bottles. Legacy: Known as the oldest continuing pottery business in the area. The Brown family brought their Georgia pottery traditions to North Carolina, using local clay and becoming renowned for their distinct folk art. While the pottery transitioned from mostly utilitarian wares to more decorative art pottery over the decades, they maintained traditional methods. Love the item but not the price?
