Among the many wind instruments, Selmer is a top brand boasting overwhelming recognition and history. This is an oboe made by Selmer USA, inheriting that lineage. While Selmer is loved by players worldwide for its woodwind instruments such as saxophones and clarinets, this oboe also features a solid key mechanism unique to a major brand, and a stable, easy-to-play feel. As a student model reflecting the design philosophy of a prestigious brand, we can confidently recommend this instrument to those just starting out. [Resin Body Resistant to Cracking] The body is made of resin (plastic) instead of wood. There is virtually no worry of body cracking, the biggest enemy of the oboe, and it is resistant to changes in temperature and humidity, making it suitable for outdoor performances, marching, and long practice sessions without concern. [Full Maintenance Performed, Ready to Play Immediately] The oboe is a very delicate instrument, but it has undergone a full overhaul by a professional technician for this listing. You won't have to worry about the common issue with used oboes of expensive adjustment costs after purchase. Overhaul (OH) performed Cork re-wrapping All defective pads replaced Overall balance adjustment and cleaning [Accessories] Instrument body Dedicated hard case 3 Reeds (included so you can try them out immediately upon arrival) [Product Condition] There are minor scuffs and scratches associated with normal use, but no major damage that would interfere with playing. As it has been overhauled, the key action is very smooth and in good condition. *Please check the posted images for details on the exterior. [Notes] While we have performed thorough adjustments, due to the nature of used instruments, minor balance changes may occur due to vibrations during shipping. This is a practical oboe that combines the reliable craftsmanship of the prestigious Selmer with the peace of mind of a fully overhauled instrument.
