This is a handmade Bear Deterrent. The main body is made of stainless steel and wrapped in genuine leather. This is a handmade item. There may be dirt, scuffs, or small scratches. Includes a waterproof firecracker case (holds 7 firecrackers). This is the item shown in the photos. *Firecrackers and lighters are not included. What is a Bear Deterrent? It is a tool used to amplify the sound of firecrackers to alert bears and other animals to human presence, thereby avoiding encounters. It is used as a bear countermeasure item when entering mountains for activities such as mountain climbing, foraging for wild vegetables, and stream fishing. By setting firecrackers in the cylindrical body, the sound becomes louder than when the firecrackers are set off alone, and it resonates further. How to Use Insert one firecracker into the tip of the main body and ignite the fuse. Be careful, as using multiple firecrackers simultaneously may damage the main body. After igniting, it is said that holding the barrel upright and sliding the firecracker to the bottom of the barrel will make the sound resonate even more. Precautions A Bear Deterrent is not for repelling bears, but for alerting them to human presence to avoid encounters. Do not use it pointed at people. Even if a firecracker fails to ignite, do not look into the barrel. Do not use it in urban areas or in places where other people are present. If a bear is already nearby or attacks, using a Bear Deterrent can be dangerous, and other countermeasures such as bear repellent spray may be necessary. Bears have excellent hearing and tend to be highly wary of low-frequency sounds around 80-120 Hz and sudden loud noises around 130 decibels. The loud sound from a bear deterrent can prompt bears to avoid humans and leave the area. When used in the mountains, the sound echoes, and some users report that the volume is so loud that it seems to be audible from several hundred meters away.
