Vintage Antique Uniform Button Lot – Waterbury Police, Navy Eagle, Lyre Music, Crest Buttons Mixed lot of antique and vintage uniform/livery buttons featuring police-style “P” buttons, lyre/music emblem buttons, a U.S. Navy-style eagle button, and decorative crest/livery examples. This lot includes several interesting construction styles and finishes, including gold-tone brass, silver-tone metal, and older multi-piece button construction. Two of the “P” police-style buttons are marked Waterbury Button Co. Conn., a historic American button maker founded in the early 1800s and well known for military, municipal, police, fire, and uniform buttons. Included designs appear to include: Gold-tone Waterbury “P” police-style button Silver-tone Waterbury “P” police-style button Silver-tone lyre/musician or band uniform button Gold-tone lyre / musician or band uniform button U.S. Navy-style eagle button Lion crest/letter “H” style livery or uniform button The Waterbury-marked examples likely date from the early 20th century, possibly late 1800s to 1920s depending on exact backmark and construction. The lyre buttons are consistent with band, musician, theatrical, or uniform use. The Navy-style eagle button has an older antique look and may be late 19th to early 20th century, though I am not certifying it as Civil War without further backmark confirmation.
