Beautiful 4” Natural Wood Glossy Angel Candle Holder with Painted Blue Wings decorated with Stars Sticker on the bottom reads: Erzgebirge Made in German Democratic Republic Expertic According to AI, it was made between 1972 and 1990 by the Kunstgewerbe Uhlig Workshop. See that description below. There are a number of scratches and there is some wear to the blue paint around the edges of the wings. apologize that it is a little dusty. You can see that in the photos. I am not sure how to safely clean it. ———— Erzgebirge angels featuring distinct blue wings (often dotted with gold or white stars) are the signature trademark of the historic Kunstgewerbe Uhlig workshop.Because your figurine also carries the German Democratic Republic stamp, it means your specific angel was handcrafted by the Uhlig family workshop during the East German state-controlled era, narrowing its production down to between 1972 and 1990. The 1972 Turning Point: In 1972, the East German communist government forcefully nationalized almost all remaining private Erzgebirge craft workshops into state-owned enterprises (VEBs). It was during this post-1972 window that production heavily ramped up for export to Western countries, which is why your angel features the English-language German Democratic Republic mark. Beautiful piece.
