Japanese cloisonné (shippo-yaki) enamel over copper vase from historic Meiji Era (1868–1912). Beautifully paired ultra-fine wirework of Japan's Golden Age enamel production with the poetic elegance of a custom Kintsugi structural repair. Alternating vertical panels in varied rich grounds. Deep reddish-brown sections showcase Aventurine (Goldstone) effect, shimmering under lighting, thousands of suspended microscopic copper flakes. Floating across panels are meticulous polychrome butterflies, floral medallions, and scrolling green leafy vines. Interior neck finished in a vibrant, opaque green counter-enamel. 6 1/8”h, 12.5” circumference Age-appropriate surface wear Kintsugi repair to shoulder from previous break, indent from impact is still present The art of Japanese Kintsugi serves as a metaphor for healing oneself. Broken pottery is not discarded, but mended with the cracks highlighted in gold or silver. In life flawed paths are left behind; no need to hide them away in the depths of despair. Taking time to turn in and embrace flaws heightens internal awareness. Spotlighting the negative to gain sight of positivity; revealing a stronger, enlightened version of oneself. Scars left where you grew, shining your way through. Here you are in the now, don’t ever forget to to look up and sit with the beautiful disaster of the broken times, admire the strength and resiliency achieved. Let this piece serve as a reminder or use as a healing tool. Pour beauty into brokenness.
