This is a listing for a Newport Beach putter commemorating the 2001 Open Championship victory. This Newport Beach model, favored by David Duval, is the only Cameron putter in history with a slit in the face. This is a limited edition model released to commemorate the Open Championship victory with a stroke count of only 274, and it features an engraving on the face. A message about the Newport Beach from the Cameron Studio: The Newport Beach has a long history of classic wins on tour and has earned a high reputation. Scotty milled the refined Newport head from 303 stainless steel, making the topline thinner and the heel-and-toe wider, and added a slit to the face of the putter, stopping it just below the topline. This floating face creates the unique sound of the Newport Beach, which is directly linked to the feel. Traditionally, slits were placed in the flange of the putter, but by moving it closer to the face, the pitch can be controlled to alter the feel. The Newport Beach began in 1997 when approximately 100 putters were made for use on tour. This putter is an ultra-rare item from before the commercial release. The head is very clean. The grip still has its plastic cover, and there are no cosmetic issues. The original headcover is also included. The length is 35 inches. It is unlikely that a new, unused item will ever appear again, and this is an ultra-rare gem that rarely comes up on the used market. This is for those who have been searching for it. It is simply beautifully crafted and will bring you the joy of ownership. This is a new, unused item from 20 years ago.
