This lovely vintage Italian leather clutch handbag is likely from the 50s or 60s. It has an intricate embossed Florentine pattern in blue, pink, and gold on creamy white leather, with an invisible brass snap closure. The band on the front may be intended as a handle, as you can slip your hand beneath it. The gusset expands to 2 at the top, and there's a little mirror pocket inside. The lining is a pale buckskin tan, with very light patina. Minor issues include the scuff and teensy repair on the back medallion. When you look really close at the right angle, you can see a few very slight impressions from the same incident that caused the scuff marks (that could be paint above the surface, though I decided to leave it be). There's also a teensy pen point size hole at the fold that shows if really close on the outside (see circled area in photo of the fold), and look for a dot a couple inches in on the reverse inside. A beautiful evening bag large enough for a phone and more. And would also be really nice for special documents or carrying important papers, like a marriage license and wedding vows, or a proposal. . . If also used to store such documents, be sure to keep them in an acid-free envelope or tissue paper.
