Purchased new a few months ago and used only a few times by my child. As it is made of plastic, there are minor scratches and scuffs on the surface, but this does not affect its use. Please refrain from purchasing if you are sensitive to such details. It is for 4/4 to 1/2 size violins, but it worked with our 1/4 size violin. Please consider compatibility with violin sizes outside of the stated range at your own discretion. +++++++++++++++++++++++ This is the HorACE Bow Guide for violin bow bowing practice. To play with a beautiful tone, it is necessary to move the bow at the correct position and angle. By attaching the HorACE Bow Guide to your violin and playing while moving the bow along the guide, you can naturally correct and develop proper bowing technique. It is a practice tool that helps you achieve this. We highly recommend this support item for beginners looking to improve their bowing. The guide part is made of lightweight yet durable polycarbonate resin and weighs only about 26 grams (for 4/4-1/2 size). The guide has a rounded arch shape, so it feels natural when operating the bow, and being transparent, it does not obstruct the player's view. The compact design allows for bowing practice very close to the end of the frog. The edges of the guide, where the bow stick is likely to touch, are designed and manufactured with rounded edges, which is another recommended point as it minimizes the risk of scratching the bow during bowing.
