This listing is for a viola outfit, including the instrument, bow, and case. I am selling off instruments I no longer need due to my retirement from an amateur orchestra. As I primarily play the violin, I only occasionally played the viola, so it was not used frequently as my main instrument or with my main case. The set includes the following: ■ Viola Body The label inside the instrument reads kang Yo Qi. I believe this is a budget instrument sold as a Chinese-made viola, purchased simply to start playing. The back features a striking bird's eye maple pattern, a highly noticeable grain. The front is plain with strong contrast. The sound quality is very light. It might gain some depth with playing, but I suspect its potential is limited. Please consider it an instrument for simply playing. The chin rest is a SAS pearwood model, modified with a Wittner adjuster. The body size is 40.5 cm in length. ■ 2 Bows One bow is made of Pernambuco wood, and the other is carbon fiber. Neither bow has any warping, but both will likely need rehairing. The Pernambuco bow is stamped James Dodd, London. If genuine, it would be quite expensive, but its authenticity is unknown. I purchased it for tens of thousands of yen, and the balance point was stable, allowing for smooth fingerwork. The weights are 60g for the Pernambuco bow and 70g for the carbon bow. The Pernambuco bow might actually be a violin bow. ■ Shoulder Rest This is a shoulder rest similar to a Mach One. ■ Set of Strings, Rosin Includes a 4-string set of Helicores, and several other strings of unknown brands. I have not managed their condition, so they may not be usable. The rosin is MILLANT, with some signs of use but approximately 90% remaining. ■ BAM Viola Case This is the ET2200XLGR in Greige. It's a popular French-made case with a leather front, giving it a luxurious appearance. The current retail price is around 170,000 yen. There are minor scratches consistent with use, but it has not been taken out much and is in very clean condition overall. The keys and tags are all included.
