Private yacht-club trustees' dinner. Saturday evening. The commodore notices the cufflinks before the first course and asks whether the sand dollars came from the family's restricted shoal. You turn one beneath the marina lights, glance toward the locked boathouse, and take a drink. Ten minutes later, your chair is beside him. By dessert, he is explaining the maritime trust. By Sunday morning, you have keys to the private dock, unrestricted access to the club launch, and authority over a coastal-restoration budget nobody remembers approving. No one has confirmed that sand dollars are legal tender. You're wearing a vintage mid-century pair of pewter-tone sand-dollar cufflinks fitted with the classic pivoting toggle mechanism marked Pat. 2920363. The sculpted coastal faces bring full nautical texture, while the streamlined 1960-era hardware keeps them secure without burying the design beneath the cuff. Vintage mid-century cufflinks. Sculpted sand-dollar design. Pewter-tone metal construction. Coastal and nautical styling. Pivoting toggle backs. Marked Pat. 2920363. Patent issued in 1960 to Harvey Avedon for the cuff-link mechanism. Sinclair Doosledorf examined the sand dollars and asked whether the marina accepted them for fuel. I needed to be somewhere else. Comes from a smoke-free lair.
