Ihail (Buddhist Tablet) - Katsumi Menfu - 3寸 - Free Hand-Written Inscription Ihail: Height 15.2 cm, Width 7.7 cm Height of the main body: 9.0 cm Ihail are Buddhist ritual objects used to enshrine and honor the spirits of individuals. They are considered important for ancestor veneration. The front of the Ihail is inscribed with the posthumous Buddhist name (Kaimyo). Even without a Kaimyo, an Ihail can be created using the deceased's secular name (Zokumyo) as a suitable Kaimyo. If you wish to have the Kaimyo and other details hand-written, we will do so with care, free of charge, rather than using a machine. Please refer to the last image for examples. After winning the auction, please provide the Kaimyo you wish to have hand-written, along with the posthumous title (e.g., Kojin for men, Daishi for women), the date of death, the secular name (full name), and the age at death. We will then hand-write this information for you free of charge. Of course, you are also welcome to purchase the Ihail alone. We will also hand-write the date of death, secular name (full name), and age at death for free. In the Kanto region, the Kaimyo and date of death are typically inscribed on the front of the Ihail, and the secular name and age at death on the back. In the Tokai and western Japan regions, only the Kaimyo is inscribed on the front, and the secular name and age at death on the back. There are regional differences. If you already have an Ihail for your ancestors, it is common to create the new one with the same layout.
