Collection Details • Collection Name: Crystal Ice • Release Year: 1984 • Designer: Lisa Bertolli (She was a prominent designer for Napier; her name adds significant provenance). • Book Reference: Featured in The Napier Co.: Defining 20th Century American Costume Jewelry by Melinda L. Lewis. (It is typically found in the chapter covering the 1980s). Catalog Features to Note • Modernist Aesthetic: This line was marketed as Modernist and Artistic, specifically designed to catch the light with its ice-like frosted elements. • The Finish: The gold-tone sections feature Napier’s signature satin gold gilt finish, which is that soft, brushed-texture look you see on the butterflies. • Bead Composition: The catalog describes these as frosted resin beads. They are prized by collectors because they give the look of sea glass or carved rock crystal but are much lighter and more comfortable for runway style wear. Condition - minor wear as noted in photos, when wearing you can’t notice it.
