Price negotiable. Please read the AI-generated description. Thomas A. P. Stott & Brother • A dealer of optical and scientific instruments in England, believed to have been active from the late 19th to early 20th century. • It is highly likely that they imported and sold binoculars manufactured by major German and British optical companies, engraving their own name, rather than manufacturing them themselves. ⸻ Historical Context • The trade name format THOS. (abbreviation for Thomas) and & Brother is commonly seen during the Victorian to Edwardian eras (late 19th to early 20th century). • Therefore, these binoculars are presumed to be products from approximately 1890 to 1920. Regarding the Binoculars Engraving • Given the Japanese characters 双眼鏡 (binoculars) are engraved: 1. They were manufactured as an export product for Japan. 2. They were sold in the Japanese market during the Meiji to Taisho periods (late 19th to early 20th century). This is inferred. Value and Collectibility • Binoculars from that era were in high demand for both military and civilian use, and they are now sought after by collectors of antique optical instruments. • The value varies greatly depending on the manufacturer (possibility of original manufacturing by companies like Zeiss, Goerz, etc.) and the condition of preservation (lens clarity, presence of leather covering and case). #Military #Antique #ShowaRetro #Vintage #MilitaryIssue Thank you for looking.
