This unique vintage brooch features an intricate molded celluloid scene of a horse and carriage with two figures and a pony, beautifully set inside an oval gold tone rope style frame. The delicate openwork design depicts a pastoral moment with a carriage driver, a standing figure, and animals, giving the brooch a charming storytelling quality often seen in mid-century molded celluloid jewelry. The brooch secures with a trombone clasp, a closure commonly used in earlier vintage pieces. The molded celluloid insert sits within the frame and fits together properly when worn on fabric, though it becomes loose when not attached to clothing. This distinctive brooch would be a lovely addition to a vintage jewelry collection and can be worn in many ways. It looks beautiful pinned to a blazer lapel, scarf, sweater, coat, hat, handbag, or vintage dress, and would also make a thoughtful gift for collectors of celluloid jewelry, Victorian revival pieces, or equestrian themed accessories. Because of its detailed molded scene and classic gold tone frame, this brooch has both decorative and collectible appeal. Approximate Size: about 1 3/4 inches wide (oval) Closure: Trombone clasp Material: Molded celluloid in gold tone metal frame Condition: Vintage condition. The trombone clasp works properly. However, the pin becomes loose when not attached to fabric. See photos for details.
