    This is a Panasonic portable MD player, model SJ-MJ55, with speakers.

    [Product Condition]
    Purchased new about 20 years ago, it was used extensively until the rechargeable battery likely malfunctioned, rendering it inoperable and left unused.
    The rechargeable battery had leaked, and the battery cover was stuck shut. However, it was cleaned with alcohol and opened.
    The genuine battery had completely leaked, with blue powder adhering to it. These were scraped off, but the electrode parts were also corroded.
    After checking online examples of disassembly and cleaning, I reinforced the area by attaching copper mesh (Photo 20).

    I purchased a separate rechargeable battery (gumstick battery) and confirmed its charging and playback functionality.
    Basic operations such as remote control, audio playback via speaker and earphones, and the charging indicator light blinking are all normal.

    I have also misplaced the AA battery case, so I confirmed normal operation by directly connecting the battery to the electrode parts of the battery case (Photo 18).
    It operated normally even without the rechargeable battery.

    Regarding the exterior, there are numerous scuffs and scratches on the main unit.
    The remote control's window also has scuff marks.
    The speaker unit has no particularly noticeable scratches.

    The cover for the rechargeable battery insertion slot came off during testing, but it can be somewhat secured after inserting the battery.
