ROYAL COPENHAGEN DENMARK Nordic Vintage 1970s ?? Rare / Limited Edition ?? Unused Introducing a vase that captures the fleeting beauty of a butterfly, as if it has just alighted in a quiet Nordic forest. This flower vase is from the Diana series, designed by Nils Thorsson for Royal Copenhagen. It is a legendary series produced for only a brief period in the 1970s. Royal Copenhagen, established in 1775, has been setting the standard for beauty for over 250 years, from royal dining tables to modern Nordic design. Among its creations, the works of Nils Thorsson exemplify a period of peak artistry and experimentation. The 1970s in Denmark marked a shift in values from functional beauty to aesthetic sensibility. Nordic ideals of respecting nature, craftsmanship, and individuality were strongly reflected in ceramics. The Diana series is a product born from this very spirit of the times. Each piece possesses a unique character, like a painting in itself. It features a rounded, soft body, with a gracefully slender neck and ample negative space, creating a beautiful line. It's not ornate, but rather a sculptural form that stands quietly, possessing an aura that transforms the atmosphere of any space. The greatest charm of this vase lies in its decoration, which utilizes the serendipity of the glaze. The variations in brown tones, the bleeding, the particles, the flow – while depicting butterflies and plants, it evokes a sense of abstract art with its negative space and poetic sentiment. As each piece is handmade, no two have the exact same expression. In Nordic culture, butterflies symbolize transformation, freedom, and the soul. The delicate butterflies painted on the substantial porcelain seem to express the contrast between the material and the spiritual. The Diana series is highly regarded in the Nordic vintage market today. As it was produced for only a short time in the 1970s, very few pieces exist. This series is positioned among Royal Copenhagen's most artistic lines. Highly recommended! (?????)? ?? Size Opening diameter: Approx. 3cm Height: Approx. 8.6cm ??
