?? As this is a PVP registered variety, sale by propagation such as runners is prohibited.?? Centipedegrass Tifblair This is a product page for 20 plants. Bare-root seedlings with soil removed from the pot. Photos are for reference only. We will ship via Yu-Packet Post, which is delivered to your mailbox. (Delivery available on weekends and holidays) Yu-Packet Post is generally delivered to your mailbox. If it does not fit, it will be handed directly to you or a delivery attempt notice will be left for redelivery. We grew these from officially purchased seeds in 200-cell trays. We plant them on rice paddy levees at intervals of 25-30 cm. Before planting, we thoroughly remove weeds with herbicide. After planting, we hand-weed for a while and water every 2-3 days. (If you find this troublesome, simply mowing the grass will eventually allow the Tifblair to outcompete the weeds.) With occasional weeding, it will grow in nicely within about three years. For us, levee maintenance has been reduced to twice-yearly mowing! (We use a Spider Mower) In winter, the leaves wither and turn reddish-brown. New shoots emerge in spring and become lush green by summer. [Planting Period Recommended by Takii] Late May to Late August In my experience, on slopes, the grass grows about 20% upwards and 80% downwards. Therefore, I plant them higher up on slopes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ● Height: 10-25 cm. Stolons grow rapidly, and internodes are short, forming a dense turf. ● Strong cold tolerance; there are records of it withstanding temperatures as low as -23.5°C in the US (common varieties may not survive even -10°C). ● Thick, deep roots firmly anchor soil on levees and slopes. ● Earlier spring germination than common varieties, with dense stolons and good greenness until late autumn. This effectively suppresses weed growth. ● Excellent longevity; once established on levees, it requires almost no mowing for over 10 years. ● Highly adaptable to soil conditions, growing in soil pH from 4.2 to 8.5. Shows very little growth inhibition on reclaimed coastal land. From Takii Seed Co., Ltd. materials. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ?? Important Notes We carefully inspect and select the best possible plants, but as they are living organisms, they may have insect damage, attached insects, scratches, etc. The soil may become dislodged during delivery. Depending on the season, the seedlings may weaken due to high temperatures or freezing during transit. Please purchase only if you understand and accept these conditions.
