VTG Alex Calle Sosa Signed Peruvian Art Pottery Vase | Brown & Rust Striped Geometric Jug | Hand Thrown Up for sale is a striking ceramic jug/vase created by the noted Peruvian artist Alex Calle (Alex Calle Sosa). Originating from the Chulucanas region of Peru—famous for its rich pottery tradition and distinct negative space decorative techniques—this piece features a bold, modernist aesthetic. Design Features: * Upper Body: Features a deep brown glaze with a repeating geometric pattern of sgraffito-style cream ovals. * Lower Body: Contrasts with a warm, matte rust/reddish-brown finish accented by horizontal dark stripes. * Form: A classic jug shape with a narrow neck and a sturdy applied handle. Condition: Good vintage condition. Please review photos 1-3 for details on the finish. As this is a handmade folk art piece, natural variations in the glaze and clay texture are part of its character. Measurements: * Height: Approximately 10 inches * Width: Approximately 7-8 inches at widest point * * Artist: Alex Calle (Alex Calle Sosa) * Origin: Chulucanas, Peru * Type: Jug / Vase / Pitcher * Material: Clay / Terracotta / Ceramic * Style: Modernist / Folk Art / Geometric * Color: Dark Brown, Rust/Reddish-Brown, Cream/White * Technique: Hand-thrown, likely resist-dyed (smoke fired) * Signed: Yes (ALEX CALLE on base) Keywords: Mid Century Style - South American Pottery - Studio Art Pottery - Earthenware
