An authentic piece of mid-century American metalwork: a gorgeous hand-wrought hammered aluminum serving basket tray crafted by Farber & Shlevin Inc. The underside is clearly stamped with the genuine maker's mark and pattern model number 1407. Produced in Brooklyn, NY around the 1940s1950s, this basket features an elegant embossed central floral pattern, beautifully crimped ruffled edges, and a rigid twisted handle arched across the top. Because it is constructed from hand-forged aluminum alloy, it will never tarnish or require the tedious polishing of real silver. It makes an excellent vanity dish, bread server, or catch-all tray. Manufacturer: Farber & Shlevin Inc. (Brooklyn, New York)Model/Pattern: #1407Era: Mid-Century Modern / 1950s Retro Condition: Very good vintage condition. The stamp on the bottom is crisp and highly legible. The metal retains a bright patina with normal fine surface scuffs and minor signs of handling consistent with its 70+ year age. No deep dents or pitting.
