Color: Gold Pattern: Floral Kimono Type: Furisode Brand New, Ready to Wear!! A high-quality (six-panel) obi from Nishijin, meticulously crafted by Hashimoto Teru Orimono. This is a Karaori Saga Nishiki obi. Condition: Brand new, ready to wear. Material: Pure silk (excluding gold and silver threads). Certificate: Nishijin Textile Industry Cooperative Certificate No. 602 Proudly made by Hashimoto Teru Orimono. Finished Length: Approximately 4.34 meters. Color: Gold Saga Nishiki originated as a handicraft in the Nabeshima family of Higo Kashima. Based on this, weavers in Hakata refined the technique, creating a unique obi with a distinctive texture by weaving silk threads as weft through gold and silver foil as warp. This Fukuro obi is ideal for Tomesode and Homongi kimonos. The first person to weave the current Saga Nishiki Fukuro obi was Takeichiro Okuno, a Hakata-ori weaver and a distinguished contributor to the traditional crafts industry. Subsequently, Saga Nishiki became widely woven in the Hakata-ori region, establishing itself as a representative formal obi fabric of Hakata. Karaori weaving, with techniques introduced from Ming Dynasty brocade in the late 16th century, has been practiced in Kyoto's Nishijin district ever since. It is a luxurious and magnificent textile where various colored threads are used to create patterns through intricate brocade weaving, resembling embroidery, on a twill weave base. In those days, it was used for the attire of limited individuals such as Shoguns and for Noh costumes. Even today, the upper garments for female roles in Noh are exquisite Karaori creations. The lustrous gold Saga Nishiki obi fabric is exceptionally supple. The black base features a woven Sha-aya-ga (lozenge pattern) ground in gold, shimmering brilliantly. Butterflies, plum blossoms in circles, pine, and wisteria motifs are woven in Karaori using colors such as pink, red, light blue, white, light green, willow green, and wisteria purple. This Fukuro obi is highly recommended for coordinating with formal Furisode kimonos, especially those with classical patterns, to achieve an even more distinguished and elegant look.
