A sentimental piece of World War II-era military ephemera, this satin souvenir pillow cover commemorates the U.S. Marine Corps at Parris Island, South Carolina. The ivory satin front features the Eagle, Globe and Anchor emblem alongside vivid pink roses, patriotic stars, a printed poem dedicated to “Mother,” and golden yellow fringe trim. These decorative pillow covers were popular keepsakes sent or brought home by servicemen during the WWII era. Condition Good vintage condition with age-related wrinkling and wear to the satin and fringe. A very small orange-colored stain is present on the front. Printed graphics remain bright and highly visible. Please review photos closely for condition. Measurements Pillow Cover: 17.5 x 17 Fringe: Approximately 2 Overall Size Including Fringe: Approximately 21.5 x 21 Material Satin fabric Rayon or synthetic fringe trim Origin Parris Island, South Carolina, USA Era: World War II, circa 1940s Styling Notes A particularly evocative piece for a collection of WWII militaria, vintage patriotic textiles, or wartime ephemera. The combination of romantic florals, brilliant satin, military imagery, and the sentimental “Mother” verse makes it equally striking displayed as a textile rather than used as a pillow cover. Additional Notes Pillow cover only; no insert included. A unique find and purr-fectly peculiar.
