Thank you for viewing. This is a tea scoop handmade by Master Fujii Seido (Kaido), the 515th head priest of Daitoku-ji Temple and abbot of Sangen-in. The inscription is Ujigawa. It is a very evocative name, reminiscent of the clear streams of Uji and the long-standing history of tea. The tea scoop itself has a straightforward and profound carving, characteristic of Master Seido. The lid of the shared box (outer box) clearly bears the inscription and seal (signature) handwritten by Master Seido on the back. (Please check the images.) The shared tube (bamboo tube for the tea scoop) also has the Master's handwriting and seal. Furthermore, an elegant silk pouch (shifuku) is included, making for a very refined set. This is a piece that you can confidently use for everyday practice as well as formal tea ceremonies. It is also a highly valuable item for collectors. This is a masterpiece imbued with the spirit of the Master, known as the former head priest of Daitoku-ji. Please take this opportunity to cherish it.
