Takada Shozoku has a long history of weaving textiles for the Imperial Court since ancient times, and continues to be involved in the creation of ceremonial attire for Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress, as well as other members of the Imperial Family. This futae (double-weave) fabric is an elegant and highly prestigious brocade, woven with a geometric interlocking diamond pattern (ji-mon) used in the formal wear of Heian period court nobles, overlaid with a three-dimensional floral motif (kiku-orisashi) in a different colored thread. This item has been used a few times since purchase. The images show shadows created by light reflection on the sheen, but there are no stains or dullness, and it is in beautiful condition with a good sheen.
