This is a 2-way speaker system that combines Fostex's M800 and PT20 drivers with Fostex's P2080-E cabinet. The following maintenance has been performed: - Dedicated network installed - Wiring replaced - Connector unit replaced - Inner duct newly installed A new dividing network has been constructed (see 6th photo, bottom right). The crossover frequency is 10.5kHz. The network included with the P2080-E has been removed. The HPF is a 2nd-order filter using Vishay film capacitors. The LPF has an added resonant circuit to attenuate excess high frequencies. A resettable fuse is built-in to protect against continuous high input. All wiring has also been replaced accordingly. The connector unit on the back has been replaced with posts compatible with banana plugs (see 6th photo, bottom left). A resin duct has been newly installed in the conductive part of the internal partition of the cabinet. ------ The cabinet and tweeter are used, while the woofer is new. The exterior has minor imperfections, including small dents on the corners (photo 7) and barely noticeable scuff marks (photo 8). The screws securing the drivers have been changed to hex socket cap screws. ------ This is a simple 2-way system from Fostex. It uses an 8cm aluminum alloy cone full-range driver as the mid-bass, which is unusual for the brand. Only the high frequencies are handled by a soft dome tweeter. The double bass-reflex cabinet design complements the slim appearance while providing solid bass reproduction. A dedicated network circuit, designed to match the drivers, was used for the crossover. Additionally, a duct was installed inside the cabinet to slightly increase the amount of bass. The tuning aims for a sound quality close to that of a full-range speaker, maintaining the efficiency of the mid-range due to the higher crossover frequency. It is not suitable for high-volume listening as its input tolerance is not very high.
