Offered here is a touching collection of 28 original handwritten letters, each preserved in its original mailed envelope, exchanged between a young U.S. Army soldier and his sweetheart during the Korean War era. Collection Includes * 28 original handwritten letters * 28 original mailed envelopes * Postmarks dating from 1952-1953 * Letters mailed from Fort Ord, California * Addressed primarily to Miss Betty Campbell in Rio Linda and later North Sacramento, California * Original period U.S. postage stamps, including Washington 3¢ stamps and several NATO commemorative issues * Original handwriting throughout These letters provide a fascinating glimpse into everyday life during the Korean War era. The correspondence discusses daily military life, missing one another, future plans, family, and the ordinary moments that become extraordinary through time. The collection would make an excellent addition to: * Korean War collections * Military history collections * Postal history collections * Ephemera collections * Genealogy research * Social history archives * Romantic correspondence collections * Museums or historical displays Condition The letters remain in their original envelopes. As expected for correspondence over 70 years old, the envelopes exhibit age-related wear including creases, edge wear, toning, small tears, and handling marks. The letters are handwritten and appear to be generally well preserved.
