Bamboo Ayu Fishing Rod, Sectional with Storage Case. - Type: Ayu Rod - Material: Bamboo - Accessories: Storage Case - Length: Sectional - Features: Japanese Traditional Rod (Wasan) Modern ayu fishing primarily uses lightweight carbon rods for direct line pulling. For those who wish to enjoy fishing with a sense of tradition and dedication, or as a cherished item to display in their room and reminisce about their active days, a traditional Japanese rod (Wasan) is an attractive option. Please do not attempt to pull the fish directly with a Wasan. With a Wasan, you bring the ayu into the landing net by carrying the rod and slowly pulling the fishing line. The following is an AI explanation: Ayu fishing Wasan (bamboo rods) are masterpieces, handcrafted one by one by skilled artisans, possessing a suppleness and unique action that modern carbon rods lack. Primarily made from natural materials like Hotei bamboo, they offer a deep bending capability and the appealing sensation of gently drawing in the fish. These pieces can be found in the used market and are cherished by enthusiasts. Next is a description from a fishing tackle shop: Traditional Charm: Possesses the atmosphere unique to handmade bamboo rods, used for over 70 years. Supple Action: Softer than carbon, it absorbs the ayu's pull throughout the entire rod, preventing tearing and allowing you to enjoy a natural operability as if the ayu is following the rod. Material Dedication: Made from materials like Hotei bamboo, including rods entirely of Hotei bamboo, finished slim and supple with spigot joints (inro-tsugi). Skilled Craftsmanship: The delicate tip, showcasing the artisan's skill, creates operability that allows you to guide the ayu to your intended spot. Maintenance: Bamboo material is sensitive to humidity changes, so careful maintenance is required, such as cleaning off dirt after use, drying, and then storing.
